About ZAM HealthCare
ZAM Healthcare and Support will provide you with trained and DBS checked staff on a ‘as and when required’ basis to meet the needs of your service.
We understand the pressures that come with using Agency staff and we also understand that each provider is always working to reduce Agency usage. However, sometimes you may need the assistance of temporary Agency workers and here at ZAM Healthcare and Support, we want to support you during these times.
Our Head of Care and Support Operations and Director of Care and Support Operations have a background in the Health and Social Care of over 12 years and we know what we would expect, as a care provider, in an agency care worker.
We started our care journey as Support Workers and progressing to Team Leader and Manager roles before deciding to start our own Temporary Staffing agency and strive to change the stigma that comes with Agency care workers.
We will work closely with each care provider to ensure we send the right person for their service. We will meet with each care provider to assess what the needs of the services are and assess what you require and need in an agency support worker.
We understand that Agency staff members can come with a bad reputation. These are some of the common phrases we have heard over the years when it comes to Agency workers:
- “Agency staff just sit around on their phones all shift” – during each of our training sessions we sit with our staff and we explain the reasons why this is unacceptable and that the results of not paying attention to the people you are supporting can have detrimental impacts, we also explain that each staff member is representing ZAM Healthcare and Support and we have policies and procedures in place to address this if this becomes an issue.
- “Agency staff are always late” – we understand that it can be difficult to find establishments for the first time. We will work with the care provider and the agency worker to ensure they pre plan where they are going. We also have a control room operation that contacts the staff member/s 2 hours before the shift staff and 1 hour before the start of shift times. This ensures everything is on track for the start of the shift and allows time to find additional cover if needed, if any issues where to arise in this time.
- “Agency staff sit around and do nothing, it’s like an extra person to look after” – we speak about these things in discussions in our induction training and we get feedback from our workers. It can be difficult for a new staff member to know what is expected from them. We have open discussions within our induction to address these issues and how to overcome this and how our workers can get the most out of the shifts they complete and equally how the provider gets the most out of our staff members.
We work to removing the stigma attached to Agency workers by providing high quality and experienced staff members from all walks of life.
Please contact us to arrange a face to face meeting to discuss your requirements and let us help you with your staffing requirements, which leaves you time to focus on other important tasks!
