A 42-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after three children were discovered dead early Sunday morning at a home in Bristol’s Sea Mills neighborhood, Avon and Somerset Police reported.
Officers responded around 12:40am to a welfare check call at an address on Blaise Walk and found the three young victims deceased at the scene. The suspect is currently in custody at a hospital.
The police force notified the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior contact with the arrested woman last month. An IOPC spokesperson said a referral has been requested to assess if further action is warranted.

Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Shelford expressed dismay over the “heartbreaking” deaths, but said authorities believe it was an isolated incident presenting no further public risk.
Neighborhood Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen offered condolences and said specialist officers are supporting the bereaved family. Detectives remain at the quiet residential street to provide community reassurance, she added.
A neighbor described the accused as a loving mother who grew distressed after her youngest child’s birth. The community playgroup and Methodist church opened their doors to shocked local residents.
Bristol authorities, including Mayor Marvin Rees and MP Darren Jones, voiced grief over the devastating tragedy and thanked emergency responders. Jones characterized it as an isolated incident, while Rees said the city will ensure schools and families receive support.
